Why Gucci belongs in a rental closet

Gucci has decades of recognizable pieces: the Jackie and Bamboo bags, the GG Marmont, the Dionysus, the Horsebit 1955, the web stripe and the Double G belt. Renters want them because one Gucci piece can carry a whole outfit.

Vintage Gucci is welcome, including older canvas and leather bags from the 1970s through the 1990s.

Gucci bags and belts work from day to evening. Renters take them to weddings, weekends away and work events.

Gucci we would love to receive

  • Jackie, Bamboo, Marmont, Dionysus and Horsebit 1955 bags
  • GG canvas totes and shoulder bags
  • Double G and web belts
  • Silk scarves
  • Horsebit loafers and heels
  • Wallets, card cases and jewelry

Donate or consign?

If cash is the goal, a current Gucci piece in excellent condition will sell on a consignment site once the commission comes out. Donating makes more sense when the piece is older, shows some wear, or you would rather see it worn again than sold once. You get an itemized receipt instead of a payout, and the piece keeps earning for charity.

How to send your Gucci

  1. Request a free mailer and tell us what you are sending.
  2. We mail you a bag with a prepaid USPS label and a short instruction card. Nothing to print, nothing to pay.
  3. Pack it and drop it at any post office, or hand it to your carrier.
  4. We check and photograph every piece, and your itemized receipt follows in 5 to 7 business days.

Condition and packing: Normal wear is fine. Include dust bags, boxes or cards if you still have them, empty any pockets, and wrap each piece in a soft cloth before it goes in the mailer.

Where the money goes

Every piece is rented for two weeks at a time, then cleaned and sent out again. Net rental profits are split across the charities on our Honor Roll at year end, and every donor can nominate a charity to the list.

Questions about donating Gucci

Do you take vintage Gucci?

Yes. Older canvas, leather and Bamboo pieces are some of our favorite donations.

Can I donate a Gucci belt?

Yes. Belts rent easily because the fit is forgiving, and we list the length on every one.

Is donating Gucci tax-deductible?

Yes. FashionablyGood is run by OnlyFuego Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You receive an itemized receipt listing each piece within 5 to 7 business days of it arriving. The IRS asks donors to determine the value themselves, and a qualified appraisal is required if you claim more than $5,000 for one item or a group of similar items. We are not tax advisors, so check with yours.

How do I send my Gucci?

Request a mailer. We send you a bag with a prepaid USPS label and a short instruction card, so there is nothing to print and nothing to pay. Drop it at any post office or hand it to your carrier.

What happens after it arrives?

We check it, photograph it and list it for two-week rentals with free shipping both ways. Net rental profits are split across the charities on our Honor Roll at year end, and you can nominate a charity to the list.
